5 Days to Go

Gym-G: The sight of it all was awesome - players practicing - their sweat and toil all directed towards a single purpose - winning the gold in BOSM.

In a year where remarkable sporting achievements have made us all sit up and take notice of the hardships and the toil undertaken by athletes and sportspersons, an event like BOSM assumes special significance. After all, this is the platform for students to come up with the goods and prove that they can compete in the sports of their choice. This is where they pursue their dream sof glory. This might not be the Olympics but the motto is still the same - Citius, Altius, Fortius.

There might be no Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps among the competition here, but there is still that sense of rivalry and the sense of anticipation - the anticipation of achievement propelling the competitors to greater glory. And that is what we hope to see - competition in the most raw format - one that places the onus on winning and yet acknowledges all those who believe the sporting spirit and participation is just as important.

BOSM

Here we go again!!! The BITS Open Sports Meet or BOSM (as popular lingo remembers it) is upon us its 23rd incarnation. All the months of hard work and practice have led to this point. The point where the competition begins and the games start.

The unique diversity among BITSians ensures that there are takers for every possible kind of sport here. It is this diversity that BOSM appeals to the most. The whole spectrum of sports events on offer is a treat for any sports lover; the intense competition, the heartbreak stories, the gamesmanship and above all, the sporting spirit shown by all athletes, sportspersons, coaches and the crowd is an educational experience for every student of the human spirit.

So, in less than a week's time, whenever you think of BITS Pilani, think of Gym-G, SAC, Med-C Grounds and the Baskee Courts...Think of the hundreds who will turn up to cheer the participants...Think of the hundreds who've converged here from all parts of the country to participate in the sports events they love and live by...For all roads lead here...To BOSM 2008.
